NBA 2K23: Newbie HOF badge issue in the game

Dec-02-2022

I know a little bit about this - I'd say this is a relative newbie to the game. Keeping your body between the ball and the defender is something that is trained at the very beginning of a competitive basketball game - so I have no problem with those who disrespect it over and over again.

As a newbie, I ran a HOF step with a 6 8" SF and 89 handles and I couldn't even run unplugged. I could count the number of times my hand was torn. It took a while to get sucked into contact Animation, realize once that happens you're screwed. My play style mirrors my life experience, I'm a straight driver with a competent pull-up center back. I only handle when there's enough space ball.

When a ball eagle catches up to me and fills my space, I just pass the ball if there is no room to change my path/trajectory and let the pincer breaker/glide work its magic. If the passing rating is high enough, just press B to send a clear bounce pass to your teammate. If you're stupidly following spam on YouTube crossing infinite and general over-dribbling, you're exactly the kind of person the glove badge is designed to harass.

Pass the ball early. In a real basketball game, there are many times when a forward gets harassed, then does a DHO and wipes the screen with a big on top of the key, then turns around to retrieve the ball and reset from his/her triple threat position to have more options. If you and your big man are smart, you can do this a few times, then let the big man swipe the screen action, and now you're in lob city paradise. High IQ wins this game.

My new version rarely uses badges now, and even without badges, it's easy to create scoring opportunities with patience, solid floor positioning, and most importantly, passing the ball instead of passing the ball when you don't have a choice. Stop trying to knock through defenders in strong positions so you don't get ripped too much. Stealing from the back is a mechanic that feels a bit broken, but otherwise, I have no complaints.

The real problem I'm having is the blocker badge, it just feels very impractical, but it's designed to combat stupidly impractical breakers. I don't know what to do to resolve this dynamic.
